Project description

In our first project, we are fundraising for 30 little kindergartners in a Hungarian village called Gadna. Unfortunately, the children are currently in a hard situation, as they need to stay in a building which does not have a proper heating system, only a wood burning stove which is extremely dangerous in the surrounding of the kids. This stove is not able to heat up the only room, which the children use as a temporary kindergarten. Their original building is under total reconstruction, hence they needed to find shelter in the community center of this poor village, which was not designed to function as a kindergarten.

• Installing an electric heating system
• Building a 6 kilowatt-peak PV system that provides carbon-free energy to the heating system
• Organizing an ‘Education day’ for the kids, in which we are going to talk about renewable energies and environmental pollution. Solar-powered toys will be also given to the kids for education purposes.

Why this tiny village, called Gadna?

This small and cute village has 300 inhabitants and a kindergarten with 30 little students at the age between 5 and 8. The unemployment rate in this village is quite high, the possibilities for children to study, gain knowledge and build a career is extremely low. Unfortunately, many families do not have a proper heating system at their home, so the only way their children can stay in a warm place during the cold winter, is the kindergarten. Since the original building of the kindergarten is destroyed and it will take couple of years to rebuild, the children were moved to the community center of the village which building is not well-equipped enough to provide proper environment for 30 kids. They have only 1 area, without proper heating and infrastructure.

Who are the organizers?

This project is being organized by a group of friends, young engineers and economists. We created this group, called Green Energy 4 Good Purposes to help low-income families by building renewable energies to their homes, thus fighting climate change. We currently cooperate with a Hungarian NGO called “Tunderpakk Kozhasznu Alapitvany” to facilitate our project. This NGO has been working since 2016, mainly focusing on supporting low-income families with food and clothing.

How are we going to spend the donations?

100% of the donations will be spent on the expenses of the project. None of the organizers make profit on this project, moreover our own expenses for functioning are not covered from your donations.
